The City of Elliot Lake called a meeting of the Working Group to discuss celebrating in 2025 the 70th anniversary of the City's founding. ARIEL was only one of nearly two dozen participants to attend. We learned that the celebration would be year-long. Existing annual events would continue to be held, but would be enhanced with special 70th anniversary activities. There would be one-off events too!
Based on the City's annual events calendar, there is one month that is often devoid of a special activity - April. So ARIEL proposed that our membership operate a Festival of the Arts in April 2025. Our working title is the Cabin Fever Arts Festival. If you recall April 2023, you will understand why we chose that working title. The entire Arts community will be involved: Music, theatre and Arts and Crafts. We are delighted to announce that we have agreement in principle with the Department of Recreation and Culture to operate the Festival as part of the 70th celebrations. Details have yet to be ironed out, so that means you can be in on the event from the start. Volunteers to participate in the planning are needed.
